How to Join Rocket League in New Steam Friends Chat

Edit :
First of all : Psyonix can you code an INGAME PUBLIC SERVERS BROWSER please ? That would solve this issue...

Working method brought by Cloudy_Customer :

"Xbox players join an unranked game and get matched with random pc players. One Xbox player gives the strangers' steam names to the pc player friend who will then find the strangers' profiles on steam. Once on a steam profile the pc player can click on "join game" and enter the game as soon as a player leaves or when there are bots in the game."

This has been tested and is working, but it's a bit complicated due to chat issues (only quick chat is working cross-platform ) and because you need to be "friend" with the stranger to be able to join the game. Also there's no spectator mode or queuing system in public servers, so you have to wait there's a free slot before trying to join the game.

However we found a booster to this technic : if you are Xbox and PC, then the pc player get online and search for a game with xbox players. Then he gives the tag of the stangers to his xbox friend. The xbox friend makes a friend request to the strangers VIA the Xbox app included in Win10. It seems that this way the request is immediatly and automatically accepted. Then you just have to wait for a free room in the server and join in.

Alternative method with hope in mankind: Create a private server with custom parameters, plant it here and pray for joiners: http://serverleague.com/

Alternative method DIY with even more hope in mankind : Create a private server with no password and call it "Public1", then "Public2" when first is full... etc. And even more prayers for joiners....

Original Post :

I'm playing XboxOne with a friend and have tried many ways to play with one of our PC gamer friend.

What works flawless is private match with a name and pass that any contact you have can connect to, regardless his platform. Fine but, if you don't have enough friends online, it leads that you usually ends up playing with or against bots which is, ultimatly, not fun...

We tried to connect to the same public matches by launching the matchmaking at the same time with the same exclusive criterias, but it never worked...

We also tried to create a party when the pc user is lauching rocketleague via the Xbox app included in Win10. At this point, players can see each other in their buddy list, but any invite never gets to its final destination...

Then we tried to connect to random private servers with obvious names (like "1234", "azerty", "tits"...etc) and... it worked !! :) We were actually able to play with random crossplayers AND crossfriends !

SO, as the spectator mode and the queuing system are working (edit : just in private servers because actually not in public servers...), I suggest anyone who wants to play random cp games with cp friends to run a private server with no password, and name it "Public1", then "Public2" when first is full, then "Public3" etc... Let's create our own "public" crossplatform network servers that can be reachable by anyone !!

Well the easiest way would be that Psyonix let us connect "manually" to any public server, so we could reach each other crossplatform with friends without having to party up... I can't see why this would be impossible as the matchmaking log let us see the server name... If we were allowed to connect to a public server only by entering its name we could at least play together with random players as long as we stay on the server ! Psyonix can you code an INGAME PUBLIC SERVERS BROWSER please ? Any answer to that ?
